How to Compliment a Bride

A bride is a woman who is about to marry or who is a newlywed. She is typically accompanied by one or more bridesmaids and the groom. When speaking of the bride, it is important to compliment her on her beauty and personality. It is also nice to share a favourite anecdote or quote and to offer marriage advice or well wishes.

In the past, a bride’s family might give her a small cake made of flour, sugar, currants and spices called a “bride’s biscuit”, as a wedding favour. It was a symbol of good luck for the couple and a wish that their marriage be a happy and fruitful one.

Other popular wedding favours included sugared almonds or gingerbread, a posy of flowers, or the throwing of wheat, which was symbolic of the couple’s future prosperity (cf. bread for life, pudding forever). A woman who was betrothed or engaged to be married was often referred to as the “bride of Christ”.

A bride may be described as elegant, sophisticated and poised. She may be wearing a stunning gown that appears to have been designed for her, and she exudes a peaceful happiness. Alternatively, she may be the kind of person who calmly asks her hairdresser to do a french twist without getting stressed out.

While all brides are gorgeous on their wedding day, a truly beautiful bride is radiant. This quality reflects the fact that her beauty is not just about how she looks, but rather it is an embodiment of her daily commitment to her feminine vocation. On the days when she doubts her value as a wife, or when she struggles with vulnerability in making love, she is still a beautiful bride because her vow of lifetime faithfulness remains intact.

It is important for a bride to know that her friends and family love her and appreciate her. Therefore, it is a lovely idea to compliment her on these qualities during her wedding reception. It is also nice to highlight her thoughtfulness and generosity, and the ways that she has enriched the lives of those around her. Finally, it is always a touching touch to tell her how much her new husband loves and adores her. These are all things that she will want to hear on her special day.
