The words “bridal” and “wedding” are synonymous, but there is more to a wedding than just the big day. From arranging breakfast for the bridal party to updating your voicemail message, each detail plays a part in creating a magical experience for you and your guests.
A Bridal Shower
A bridal shower is a celebration of the bride-to-be, and it’s usually held 1-2 months before the wedding. It’s an opportunity for family and friends (who aren’t in the wedding party) to give their personal well-wishes to the bride, as the weeks and days leading up to a wedding are incredibly busy.
Often, the party is hosted by the bride’s closest female friends and family. She might provide some basics, such as her preferred themes, guest list, date, time, location and activities, but it’s up to the hosts to use their creativity to bring the bridal shower to life. Some brides also opt to have multiple bridal showers, so the same group of loved ones can attend more than once and have the opportunity to see each other in different environments and settings.
Once the bridal party has been escorted to their seats, the processional starts. The officiant will enter first, followed by the groom (who may be accompanied by his father or best man). Next, the bride will walk down the aisle, alone or with her mother or maid of honor. The last bridesmaid to enter is typically the matron of honor, who may or may not be escorted by ushers.
During the ceremony, you’ll likely have readings before your vows. They can be as short or long as you like, and they’re a wonderful way to add depth and meaning to your wedding ceremony. Some couples even choose to have family members or close friends stand up and offer their marriage advice, which is always a touching touch.
After the final song of the recessional has been played, the newlyweds and their bridal party will make their way back up the aisle in reverse order to how they entered. Often, the bride and groom will be joined by their parents, and they’ll also escort their flower girls or ring bearers out of the space.
Now it’s time to celebrate! The couple’s loved ones will toast the happy pair, and you’ll be able to enjoy the beautiful reception you’ve worked so hard to create. From the food to the decorations, everything is finally coming together to form one perfect day. Whether it’s a simple backyard wedding or an extravagant affair, you can feel confident that your event will be as magical and memorable as you imagined it to be. Happy planning!
